FRIDAY NIGHT VIDEO: retro rewind
I had a HUGE crush on Ian Astbury of the Cult in grade 9....
I guess I must have liked the long haired, bad boy, alternative music types back then.... I can honestly say that long hair on a man now, seems just silly to me. Regardless, this is still one of my favourite Cult songs and takes me back to grade nine dances EVERY. TIME.
She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult.... maybe I was attracted to the alliteration of the song title, being the word-nerd that I am.... Enjoy!

I haven't had much time to post my Friday night videos.... we've been busy with hockey.... you can say that once September comes along, our weekends are pretty much ruled by the monkeys and their games and practices. Halloween ramblings....
I don't know what it is about Halloween.... it seems to be getting just as busy as Christmas for us.... in fact, I think it's even busier than Christmas! For Christmas, we take turns having dinner with my family and Mr. Monkey's family, every other year! And since Mr. Monkey's family no longer lives near us, we get to host which is nice because our monkeys get to stay home and enjoy every little bit of Christmas day - gotta LOVE that!
Aaaanyway, my girlfriend, Tasha, always has not one, but two, Halloween parties - one for each of her boys - a more tame party for the younger little guy and friends (which is the one two of my monkeys attend); and a more age appropriate scary one for her older son and his friends - lucky boys, I say! (Where you get the energy to host two parties in one day.... it amazes me!)....
And also, this year, we have a family Halloween party to attend at my friend Kim's house which promises to be filled with TONS of family fun.... Did I mention both parties are on the same day? No biggie really, they are far enough apart from one another.... and the first begins an hour after hockey ends.... yes, it'll be a busy day; but, super fun for all of us. Halloween is my favourite holiday after all so I don't mind all the running around one bit :D (see, that's me not minding)....
And, of course, the boys will get to wear their costumes for their class parties too.... oh, and I also dress the girl-babe up that day as well and we go watch the costume parade at school.... also one of my favourite things to do!
The costume requests this year have been very creative; and very do-able for me.... thank you to my monkeys for sparing me the agony of trying to figure out how to make something complex :) The girl-babe is being a princess (so funny, because she is so NOT girlie-girlie); the bigger monkey is being Elmer Fudd and my middle monkey is being a mad scientist.... I`m pretty proud of the boys to have strayed away from all of the commercialism that surrounds Halloween.... they could have picked one of the ba-zillion super-hero costumes floating around; but, instead found great alternatives....
Remember, in the last paragraph where I said, ".... costume requests.... very do-able for me."? Well, they are.... I just haven't started putting them together really.... And Halloween is when? 11 days away?.... But the parties are what? 9 days away? And, crossing fingers, toes and eyes, that class parties will be held on Halloween day and NOT the Friday before.
Like I said.... busy times.... and hat orders to fill.... my mind is reeling from everything I have to accomplish in such a short period of time.... But, that's how I work.... under pressure.... now I have that song in my head..... Queen featuring David Bowie - Under Pressure

Oops! Friday night video on Saturday.... again!
This one's for my boy monkeys.... they LOVE The Police and this is their favourite Police song.... Message in a Bottle, released in 1979 on the second album by the band, titled Reggatta de Blanc....
I was 8 years old when this album was released, it was before music videos were the norm.... we had to listen to our albums on turntables with dull needles; and the crackling sound that a dusty record made, at the time was maddening; but, now sparks nostalgic feelings for me....

It's not good-bye.... it's, I'll see you again....
It is through tears and much sadness that I am sharing this.... my friend, our friend, our beautiful kind-hearted Becky, has left her earthly body and gone to be with her God....
We will never forget the beautiful person you are.... and you will live on forever in our hearts and memories....
Be comforted in knowing that you've left us so many special gifts.... the greatest of those was letting us into your heart....
You loved your family so deeply, and that showed in so many ways.... I loved hearing you call your babes "little goofs" and listening to you talk about how you and Greg would tease each other.... your playful spirit will be something they will hang on to throughout their lives.... and know that while you're no longer here in body, they will feel your presence every. single. day.
You are our Angel now.... and, likewise, we are now yours here on earth.... be comforted in knowing that everyone who loved you will now be watching over your family....
We will miss you so much, and in time we'll heal.... but you have changed us all forever - we are better people having known you....
Thank you, Becky, for being the true, genuine daughter, mother, wife, sister, niece, friend and teacher that you are.... we will carry this with us, forever....
